Issues of development of relations between the European Parliament and Uzbekistan in education discussed
On October 25 this year, the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Quality in Education held a meeting with Polish observers.
It was attended by the leadership and officials of the Education Inspectorate and the Chairman of the EU — Uzbekistan Friendship Group, MEP Ryszard Czarnecki, Rector of Warsaw Management University Pavel Czarnecki, Founder of the University Michal Glachinsky.
At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the development of relations between the European Union and Uzbekistan in education and the creation of the Andijan branch of the Warsaw Management University.
The Head of the Education Inspectorate Ulugbek Tashkenbayev informed the Polish delegation about the activities carried out to ensure the quality of education in Uzbekistan, highlighting new areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
– Since the first years of its existence, the Education Inspectorate has been implementing several projects to improve the quality and efficiency of education in Uzbekistan. In this regard, the advanced experience of developed countries is being studied.
In particular, as a result of several cooperation projects with reputable rating agencies, a national rating system of higher education institutions has been created. An institutional system for assessing the quality of education in higher education was also introduced.
In order to introduce a quality assurance system in education at the level of European requirements, the Inspectorate for Education was included in 2020 as an observer in the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education.
I am confident that today’s meeting will be an important step in the development of multilateral relations and the tasks set will be completed.
In turn, the Chairman of the EU — Uzbekistan Friendship Group, Ryszard Czarnecki, also shared his views in this direction.
– Uzbekistan is one of the two Central Asian countries that is part of the European Union Friendship Group. The main task of this group is to expand the areas of international cooperation of the EU countries.
In this regard, it should be noted that the reforms implemented in your country in recent years are commendable. It should be noted that the Education Inspectorate has a role to play in this process.
The European Union has provided financial assistance to Uzbekistan in the amount of about 168 million euros over the past six years. I am Polish. And the opening of a branch of the Warsaw Management University in Uzbekistan, named after my beloved city, is of particular importance to me.
This is also due to the fact that, as a member of the European Parliament, EU countries invest more in your country, where the system is more transparent and open to cooperation.
As the Chairman of the Council of Chancellors of the University, I can say that one of our main goals is the introduction of new approaches to personnel training in your country.
I am confident that this major investment project with us will serve as an example for other European countries in attracting future investment in education to Uzbekistan”, said Ryszard Czarnecki, Chairman of the EU — Uzbekistan Friendship Group.
The MEP also noted the similarity between Uzbekistan and Poland in improving the quality and efficiency of education and invited representatives of the Education Inspectorate to Poland.
For information, the EU — Uzbekistan Friendship Group is an independent platform for further rapprochement between Uzbekistan and the European Union by ensuring a high level of dialogue between political and business circles, as well as representatives of civil society.
The activities of the Friendship Group are aimed at strengthening cooperation in culture, education, science, as well as relations between citizens of Uzbekistan and the European Union through a wide range of constructive meetings and parliamentary diplomacy.
It should be noted that the Warsaw Management University was founded in 2018 and today, in addition to the Andijan region, the university has branches in Poznan (Poland), Rzeszow (Poland), Prague (Czech Republic), Frydek-Mistek (Czech Republic), and Bratislava (Slovakia).
Today in the Andijan branch of the University, student admissions are planned at the initial stage of 6 educational areas, including in the directions of undergraduate education “Finance and Accounting”, “Management in Transport and Logistics”, “International Business and Marketing”, “Management and Marketing in Tourism, Hotel Business, and Catering”, “Small and Medium Business Management”, “Information and Communication Technologies”. In the 2021/2022 academic year, 500 students will be admitted to these directions.
